Maesbrook News & Events

  • Springtime at Maesbrook

As the weather turns warmer and the evenings get lighter, we’re busy organizing a packed programme of events and activities for our residents to enjoy - both indoors in our communal spaces and outside in the fresh air.

  • Meet our Physiotherapist

In this blog, we’d like to introduce you to our Physiotherapist, Steph Wedmore.

Steph joined our team over three years ago, having previously worked in the NHS supporting elderly patients with independence in their own homes. Here at Maesbrook, Steph visits our residents at every week to help them with physical mobility.

  • Introducing Shirley Dwyer - Maesbrook Manager

In this blog, we’d like to introduce you to our Registered Manager, Shirley Dwyer.

Shirley has been at Maesbrook Care Home for 26 years. Born in Shrewsbury, she trained in Birmingham where she became qualified as a Registered General Nurse and Registered Sick Children’s Nurse.

  • Meet our Clinical Lead Nurse

In this blog, we’d like to introduce you to our Clinical Lead Nurse, Jennifer Quamina-Boston.

Jennifer was born in South America and began her nursing career at the age of 17. After qualifying as a State Registered Nurse, Jennifer trained as a midwife and worked in charge of Medical, Surgical and Obstetric Wards, as well as covering the District and Community.

  • Meet our Activities Co-Ordinator

In this blog, we’d like to introduce you to our Activities Co-ordinator, Sarah McGonagle.

Sarah has worked in the care sector for nine years, joining the Maesbrook team in 2017. She became our official Activities Co-ordinator last year, a broad and rewarding role which is key to helping our residents maintain a strong sense of wellbeing.

  • How we help our residents to look and feel their best

Here at Maesbrook Care Home in Shrewsbury, we understand the importance of maintaining overall physical wellbeing in later life, so as well as supporting our residents with high standards of nursing and palliative care, we strive to provide the right mix of facilities, services and activities to support physical health.
