Meet our Physiotherapist

05/04/2019

Although her role is often varied, Steph usually starts her day by catching up with our team to find out if any residents are experiencing changes to their mobility, and addressing any of our residents’ concerns. Whether it’s simple advice like advising on alternative seating, or a more complex issue requiring specialist input, Steph co-ordinates all our residents’ physiotherapy needs.

Throughout the day, Steph will lead chair, bed or standing exercises with residents who are able to take part, while those who are less mobile also benefit from doing stretches and maintaining good positioning to reduce the risk of any secondary issues which can arise when people are immobile.

She also meets with any new residents at Maesbrook to talk through their capabilities and ensure they are fully supported in maintaining their independence with day-to-day tasks and activities.

“Maesbrook has a great environment and I try to make the most of that when working with residents, so on a nice day we’ll often do our exercises in the garden.” say Steph. “I especially enjoy problem-solving and seeing Maesbrook’s residents experience the enhanced comfort, independence and social activities that improved mobility can bring. I thoroughly enjoy my visits!”
