Meet our Clinical Lead Nurse
In this blog, we’d like to introduce you to our Clinical Lead Nurse, Jennifer Quamina-Boston.
Jennifer was born in South America and began her nursing career at the age of 17. After qualifying as a State Registered Nurse, Jennifer trained as a midwife and worked in charge of Medical, Surgical and Obstetric Wards, as well as covering the District and Community.
To help support communities through the various environmental disasters that frequently take place along the West Coast of South America, Jennifer also embarked on specialist training as a joint Caribbean Health Associative in Medical Mass Casualty Management.
She moved to the UK to provide palliative care for elderly clients, and joined the team at Maesbrook in 2012. As our Clinical Lead, Jennifer takes a handover from our night staff and instructs our Nurse and Nurse Assistant on any significant changes to the condition and care of our residents.
Jennifer also manages and allocates workloads for our care team, liaises with residents’ GPs and organises visits or medication as required. She frequently meets with relatives or other professional agencies to answer any queries relating to our residents’ care.
“I love the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Maesbrook,” says Jennifer. “It truly feels like a second home - both for our team and our residents. When I come into work in the morning, I always feel I’m in the right place and that we’re getting it right.”
