Friends of Maesbrook

The Friends of Maesbrook Group brings together families of past and current residents, along with members of our wider community and the organisations we’re affiliated with, to take part in fundraising activities and special events throughout the year.

We recognise that families who have cared for their loved ones, often for a long time, would like to continue providing support - even after their loved one is placed into a 24-hour nursing home. In this instance, their role changes from providing direct personal care to maintaining their relationship with their loved one.

Therefore, we know it is vital to acknowledge and respect the importance of family visiting, both for current residents and ex-residents, since there is often a void created when a loved dies. Once a month, we provide an opportunity for current and surviving family members to come together for an afternoon tea session. We also organise seasonal gatherings here in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, which include charity events, coffee mornings, summer BBQs and other celebrations.
